Child Friendly Care

As a parent, naturally you want the best for your children and that includes their dental health too. Dentistry should play an important role in your child’s life, from a very young age. The Canadian Dental Association recommends that children should have their first visit by when they have their first tooth erupt or by 12 months old. This is so that we can help keep their baby teeth healthy. Despite the fact they will eventually fall out, baby teeth play an important role such as helping your child eat and speak properly, and act to preserve the space for permanent teeth so they can erupt properly.
We also understand that your children might be a little apprehensive about visiting the dental office, but our friendly staff are experienced in making kids feel at ease and ensuring they enjoy their experience. We even offer a first-time happy visit to introduce them to our dental office and staff in a fun and relaxed way. This is important, because we want your child’s impression of a dental appointment to be positive, so that they are more open to further visits, treatments, and advice.

Child Sedation

At Beacon Smiles we also offer the option of sedation. This is for young patients who are extremely nervous and need a little extra help to sit still and comfortable during their appointments. We provide (mild) sedation using nitrous oxide administered through a mask placed over their nose. (, or oral sedation in the form of a tablet, if they need a stronger sedation medicine. )
It’s always recommended that you and your family have check-ups every 6 months. This means that we can detect dental problems before you have any symptoms. Plus it helps to keep your oral hygiene good by providing routine cleanings.
